HOW MUCH DOES SIDING REPLACEMENT COST?

The short answer is siding replacement costs about $10,000 for every 1,000sqft of siding on your house. There are many factors however, since every home is different, that will impact the price of your specific home though. Consider additional things such as the style of siding selected, removing a hidden layer of original siding, installing new soffits, capping windows and doors, adding insulation, replacing trim on fascia’s & rakes, and/or replacing gutters, etc.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RE-SIDING & SIDING REPLACEMENT?

Sometimes contractors use the terms interchangeably, but there is a difference between the two. When there is only one original layer of siding, Building Code allows a new layer of siding to be installed over – this is called re-siding. Siding replacement is when the existing siding is completely removed, and the new layer is installed. When done correctly and with the proper fasteners, re-siding is just as good of a solution as replacement with the added cost savings.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO REPLACE SIDING ON A HOUSE?

Most average size siding replacement projects are completed within 1 week to 2 weeks.

CAN SIDING BE REPLACED IN THE WINTER?

Yes. Siding replacement can be installed year-round. Unlike roofing materials that require temperatures above freezing to be installed, siding is installed using nails so there are no adhesives which need warmer temperatures. High winds, rain, or snowy conditions are the typical weather types which cause delays.

HOW LONG DOES SIDING LAST?

Newer formulas within siding materials these days allow the materials to last on average between 40 – 60 years. Unlike older vinyl siding that was first introduced and likely installed on your home, new vinyl polymer materials have far superior durability and UV-resistance to ensure a long lasting solution.
