Coastal Simplicity: Cottage Grey Decking

This deck replacement project in Rumson, NJ gave this home’s outdoor space a fresh, airy new look with a focus on structure and safety. The old decking, fascia, skirting, and staircases were completely removed to expose the existing wood substructure. Once opened up, both staircases were rebuilt with new stringer step supports, spaced at 16″ on center to meet New Jersey Building Code standards. The homeowners selected Fiberon® decking in Cottage Grey, a soft and modern tone that brightens the space while staying easy to maintain. The main deck boards measure 16′, while the perimeter boards stretch 20′, creating a balanced, clean layout. Fresh White fascia, risers, and stringers frame the grey decking beautifully, giving the deck a coastal, timeless feel. We also added square privacy skirting in white to complete the look and hide the substructure, giving the deck a polished finish.
