A more detailed front exterior was the focus of this project, starting with the removal of the existing siding layers to expose the wood sheathing underneath. New Norandex® Rustic Hill 7-inch Traditional Shake siding in Sandstone was installed across the front of the home, while the siding on the sides and rear remained in place. The fascia, rake trim, window and door trim, and soffits were updated in white to create a clean contrast against the warmer Sandstone finish. Two porch support posts beside the entry door were also rebuilt using pressure-treated exterior-grade lumber and wrapped in solid Azek PVC trim, with decorative molding added around the bases. The low-hanging decorative fascia along the porch and garage roofline was eliminated as well, creating a more standard-width fascia for the new gutters. This kind of siding replacement involves more than changing the exterior material, and an experienced siding installation contractor has to make sure the trim, columns, soffits, and siding all come together naturally.
